Pecan Valley Genealogical Society serving the central Texas area since 1979.

is organized and operated as a non-profit tax-exempt 501(c)3
corporation as defined by the Internal Revenue Service and eligible to
receive tax-deductible contributions in accordance with Code section 170.

The Local History and Genealogy Library, a branch of The Brownwood Public Library.

Now associated with LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City as a Family History Associate.


Our Mission

The mission of PVGS shall be for genealogical, literary and educational purposes, to promote and stimulate interest in history through family research; to cooperate with patriotic and heritage societies in the field of family research; to conduct educational programs and to disseminate information to the members and to the public pointing up the importance of history, tradition, family knowledge and pride.

To assist financially in the establishment of a genealogical collection and/or knowledge, said collection to be comprised of local, regional, and national genealogical data; to stress research in, gather and preserve genealogical data and vital public records of Brown County and the surrounding areas.


Our Members

Membership in PVGS shall be open to all persons, libraries and agencies interested in the field of genealogy and meeting the following requirements: 1.Fill out a membership application with contact information.
2.Pay dues according to the level chosen:Person($25) Family($35) FT Student($15). Benefits of Membership.

Our Meetings

Regular meetings of the general membership of the PVGS shall be held the 2nd Monday of each month at 4:00 P.M. during CDT, and 5:00 P.M. during CST at the Brownwood Local History and Genealogy Library, at 213 S. Broadway St.
Guests are welcome.
